Last year we were a finalist. This year the judges put the Kaally Glass Bottle at the top of its category: Gold — Best Reusable Bottle / Cup, Clean + Conscious Awards 2026. Our baby and toddler bottle, the KaaKaaBaby 270mL, took Bronze for Best Baby Accessories in the same awards.

We are a small Brisbane family business, so we will be honest: we are chuffed. But an award badge on its own tells you very little, so this post is about what was actually tested and what the judges wrote, with links to their reviews so you can read them without our commentary.

What the Clean + Conscious Awards judge

The Clean + Conscious Awards are an independent Australian program for clean, ethical and sustainable products. Entries are sent to a panel of judges who use the product in real life and score it on four things:

  • Materials — what it is made of, and whether the claims stand up.
  • Usability and everyday performance — does it leak, is it easy to clean, does it survive a normal week.
  • Packaging — including how it arrives in the post.
  • Ethical, sustainable and social practice — how the business behaves, not just what it sells.

The judges were sent the 800mL bottle in Almond. The entry is the Kaally Glass Bottle itself, so the award covers the 500mL as well; it is the same glass, sleeve, straw and lid in a smaller size.

What the judges said

“The borosilicate glass feels super premium and sturdy, the silicone sleeve is thick and actually protective without being bulky.”

— Liz Claire, judge

“This is hands down the most beautiful drink bottle I have ever seen and used!”

— Melissa Mai, judge

“I really appreciate that Kaally doesn’t just make claims about safety and sustainability, but backs them up with independent testing.”

— Jordie Pie, judge

That last one matters most to us. The bottle is borosilicate glass with a silicone sleeve, a silicone straw and a silicone seal, so everything that touches your mouth or your drink is glass or LFGB-certified silicone. The only plastic is the internal lid structure, made from food-grade BPA-free polypropylene that never touches the drink directly. We publish the test standard on every product page rather than asking you to take our word for it.

What changes for you

Nothing about the bottle. It is the same product the judges tested, at the same price, with the same 30-day Drop Guarantee on the glass. What changes is that you no longer have to rely on our own description when you are deciding whether a glass bottle is worth it for a school bag or a work desk. Someone independent has used it and written it up.

If you already own one, thank you — you helped an Australian family business beat some very big names. If you have been on the fence, the judges’ reviews are the most useful thing we can point you to.

Questions we have been asked this week

Is the 800mL the award-winning one, or the 500mL?
Both. The awards entry is the Kaally Glass Bottle; the judges tested the 800mL in Almond, and the 500mL is the same bottle in a smaller size.

Will the bottle change now?
No. The awards’ own rules stop us from using the badge on a product that has changed since judging, and we have no plans to change it.

Is a glass bottle really safe for kids?
Borosilicate glass is impact- and temperature-resistant, the sleeve absorbs drops, and the glass is covered by our Drop Guarantee. We wrote a full guide: Is borosilicate glass safe?
